Ricki & Craig's Lockdown
Kicking off my little Coronavirus photography project is the lovely Lewis family!
My Main aim for this project was to capture family life in lockdown, I wanted to get a feel of how other families in my home town were feeling about the whole situation. With my wife and I both key workers, we sometimes find balancing work and childcare for our 8 year old son stressful and difficult, so it was good to speak to others who find themselves in a similar position. During the mini session I asked Ricki if she could write a small piece that I could add to the blog……
Lockdown 2020, was a big shock and change for us like so many other families. We understood the reasons behind it, but as working parents with two young children, life changed considerably. Not only were we now having to work remotely with the difficulties that presented, we were also in charge of home educating our children!! We have had our ups and downs but have made the best of the difficult situation we all find ourselves in. We have tried to look at the postitives and ensure that we can look back on this time with some happy memories. We are missing our family and friends so much, but know we have to do this to help keep everyone safe. We have made the most of the quality time we now have as a family without the daily rush to and from school, nursery, work and any other social activities. The slower pace of life is something we have enjoyed as a family, spending more time at home and mainly in the garden. The good weather has certainly helped and we have really appreciated how lucky we are to live in Barry with beaches and country parks on our doorstep. We have even had a camping trip in our garden!! Whilst we are sad for the devastation this virus has caused across the world and look forward to life in time going back to some sort of "normality", the memories we have made during this unsettling time will be with us forever. These photos were the perfect opportunity for us as a family to capture this unique moment in time forever.
Thank you Paul for the lovely images. Ricki, Craig, Samuel and Eleri
