The Bendricks

Wednesday 14th November 2018

It’s been a while since I last managed to get the drone out for a whizz around, so I was lucky enough to have a spare hour in the evening just as ‘magic hour’ was approaching. So I quickly jumped in my car and headed to one of my favourite places in Barry…. The Bendricks.

The Bendricks is a important paleontological site, it’s one of the best sites in the UK for dinosaur tracks of the Triassic period, a massive 220 million years ago! The Bendricks lies at the foreshore of the once mighty industrial port of Barry. Its a place that i’ve become very fond of, and you’ll often find me down there with my camera or drone! It’s also a place where i’ve taken my son on many occasions - dinosaur footprint hunting, rock climbing or crabbing…..

When I arrived I was lucky enough to find that I had the whole place to myself (which is always good when flying a drone!) As the sun started to set the sky was left with a huge spectrum of colours ranging from blues through to the oranges! So I quickly set up the DJI Phantom 3 Advanced and got to work!

The drone itself is a fantastic piece of equipment, my only criticism would be that the camera is slightly soft, but this can be corrected in post production. But overall the drone handles superbly, every time I take it out it just amazes me!

Please see below a selection of images and a short video from the flight, hope you enjoy!
