Whiteford Point Lighthouse

Whiteford Point Lighthouse is a place that has been on my to-do list for the past year now, trying to organise a trip to coincide with family, work, weather and tide times always proves to be a bit of a nightmare! But, finally I had the opportunity to see this impressive structure in person.

Me and my good friend and fellow photographer Max, sent off from Cardiff at around 10am (via Mcdonalds of course), the drive down took us around 1 hour and 15 minutes, once we arrived at the beach car park just past the village of Llanmadoc, we quickly grabbed all our gear and made our way down to the beach walking past the fabulous Cwm Ivy Tor, from there we made our way across Whiteford Sands, which is a 2 mile beach on the northern side of the Gower Peninsula.

The Lighthouse is visible as soon as you get to the beach but the walk seems to take forever! After a good 45 minutes we finally arrived, unfortunately by this time the weather had taken a turn for the worse with the clouds gathering and rain looking imminent, we knew that our time here would be limited.

I did manage to launch the drone for a couple of aerial shots that I had in mind, but I didn’t really feel comfortable flying in strong winds so decided to bring it in to land once I captured a few images.

Overall we had at enjoyable day out, well worth the drive down and 9 mile hike! I’ll definitely be returning in the future……
